I feel truly honored and blessed to be part of the faculty at JCCA and look
forward to having the opportunity to teach again. I am originally from Nebraska and received a Bachelors
degree in Music Education and a Master of Music degree in Flute Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Yes,
I am a Cornhusker through and through! My first teaching position was in Boston where I taught K-5 general music. After
receiving my Master of Music degree I focused on teaching flute and was fortunate enough to work as a specialist in several
outstanding school districts in the Ft. Worth area. For the remainder of our ten years spent in Texas, I continued my emphasis
on private flute instruction, and worked as an adjunct Professor of Flute at Amarillo College. Music has definitely
been a major part of my life. My father was a band director and church music director. My husband has a Doctorate in Trumpet
Performance and teaches in the music department at UCM. We have two daughters, Sarah (15) and Anna
(10). Sarah plays violin and is a member of the KC Area Youth Orchestra and Anna is just beginning to study cornet with her
dad. She will join the Fountain City Youth Brass Band in November. My family and I have been attending First Church of
the Nazarene for the last six months and are beginning to feel at home. Everyone has made us feel extremely welcome.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to help in educating your
wonderful children. I look forward to each and every day spent with them.
